About Rick Powell

Patti and I were married while in my graduate program. In our early years we experienced intense loss with the death of three children - each from a heart disorder. While difficult, we were blessed to have adopted three awesome children; Josh, Aaron and Kaitlyn. Patti was also busy teaching special needs children, earned a PhD and was awarded a Fulbright Scholar. Family and faith are important! I started in the corporate world and for twenty-three years successfully navigated changes allowing for experience in human resources, management training, real estate acquisition, strategic planning and international business. I have co-owned small businesses and was a principle in taking an internet company public. Focus, planning and managing change are important! These robust experiences worked perfectly together, providing a solid foundation for a career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones. For over twenty years I have had the privilege of serving families, business owners and non-profits. I am passionate about helping clients thoughtfully refine goals with ongoing discovery and personalized strategies using wise stewardship of their resources. My clients often come to me during times of transition such as retirement, receiving inheritance or with a business liquidity event. I often work in collaboration with clients' CPAs and attorneys. Sue, Ellyn and I are dedicated to providing an ideal client-driven experience. Our focus is to have clients feel understood, informed of market conditions, empowered, in control and simplify their often-complex financial lives. Clients are important! I enjoy community service and am now involved with the following organizations; Parkview Christian Church leadership, Trinity Christian College - Investment Advisory Committee, Trinity Business Network and The City of Palos Heights - Business, Economic Advisory Committee.
