About Ricky Gilbert

Rick Gilbert serves as the Senior Director of Campus Safety at the Milton Hershey School, a PreK-12 residential school for under privileged and at-risk children, a position he has held for the past 15 years. During his tenure, he has created a highly regarded campus safety program that has served as a model for other residential schools. In 2017, the MHS Campus Safety Department became the first residential PreK-12 school in the nation to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in Campus Safety. In 2020, they obtained a second accreditation for their Public Safety Communication Program. Rick began his professional career with the Lyndeborough, New Hampshire Police Department. He later transitioned from law enforcement to the higher education field, spending 12 years as a Supervisor and Training Coordinator with the Bates College Security Department in Lewiston, Maine. During this time, he co-founded and served as Director of the New England Campus Security Training Academy (NECSOTA), providing training opportunities for campus security officers from across the United States and abroad. He was later appointed Director of Campus Safety at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts prior to moving to his current role in Hershey, PA. In addition to his employment roles, Rick has served on numerous professional committees and task forces including his most recent position as Chair of the Central Pennsylvania ASIS Chapter.
