About Ricky Hendricks

I've always been someone who thinks the consumer/customer should be at the core of all decision making within media, advertising, marketing and tech. This has been a central theme of my professional development, beginning with gaining a deeper understanding about how behaviour and psychology affects decision making within the work space and continued through my numerous ventures within the various facets of marketing and business development. Fashion, music, video entertainment, gaming, ecommerce and tech have been core passions of mine starting with launching what was once South Africa's biggest music, gaming, fashion and entertainment website MyCityByNight, working across many facets of tech & ecommerce with Tencent, changing lives through edtech at 2U and currently coming to fruition in my work as Industry Manager for Consumer Packaged Goods/FMCG and Automotive along with YouTube Creator Lead at Google. I have worked across verticals during my time at agency and corporate, having cut my teeth on major African and Global brands in Retail, Telco, OEM/Automotive, FMCG, Finance, ecommerce and Tech and I believe that this has allowed me to build relationships and execute paid, organic (inbound marketing) and other partnership deals across sectors. It continues to be a focus of mine to use what is available within the world of strategy, growth marketing and tech to produce pieces of work that really make a difference to real life problems we have in the world.
