About Rik Posthumus

I see myself as a highly creative person who is very involved in projects he joins. Due to my creative nature, I can be somewhat chaotic at times, but that's nothing proper planning and scheduling won’t help overcome. Once I've committed myself to something, I tend to give it my all to make it into a success. I have a broad area of interest accompanied with a thorough skillset when it comes to finding technical solutions, wherein Mechanical Engineering is my field of expertise. Attention to detail is one of my strong suits, but I also maintain an helicopter view for the whole of a project. I like Working in (cross functional) teams, where I get a lot of energy out of the feeling of working together towards a common goal. The joint relieve and sense of achievement after reaching said goal is something I find very rewarding. When it comes to languages, I'm proficient in spoken and written Dutch, German and English. As bonus, I'm also fluent in Swiss German (Basler dialect). On the computer I'm especially skilled with Microsoft Office, Solid Works and Pro.File. In my free time I have spent some hours on understanding programming. I've played around with VBA, C++, Java Script and a little with some other languages. I used this skill to build some small web applications for personal use, wrote some small programs for Arduino projects and it gave me a basic understanding of what database software does. In my spare time, I like to tinker with different sorts of technical stuff. This ranges from small projects with Arduino or 3D printing to maintaining my own vehicles or renovating parts of my home. Besides that, I like to spend time with my wife and two daughters. We go for walks in nature, explore new things together or visit friends and family.
