About Rika Chilstrom
I am a science teacher who is passionate for making my classroom a hands-on, exciting, and inclusive space for my students. I believe in bringing science to my students where they see it in their everyday lives, and to engage my students by incorporating their passions into our lessons. I am proud to be a part of Calavera Hills Middle School, where I teach Science for grades 7 and 8 and the Eco-tech elective. Go Coyotes! My passion is to create a collaborative learning environment that is equitable, engaging, and relevant to my students’ lives inside and outside of the classroom. I believe that all of my students are scientists in that they are growing to be increasingly skilled collaborators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers as they prepare to take on the world. It is the honor of my lifetime to have a part in the growth and happiness of the youth in the same community that shaped me.
