About Riley Anderson

This is not a traditional LinkedIn bio. It’s a working journal entry — part reflection, part roadmap. 10 years ago I left accounting to build a retirement planning firm — InvestorDNA — today I focused on helping analytical professionals (engineers, accountants, and other spreadsheet lovers) make smarter, data-backed retirement decisions. I've also helped build financial software for other advisors and co-host the podcast Awe-Inspired & Retired, with 100+ episodes. I’m happiest when I’m turning complex financial puzzles into clear, actionable paths forward — with charts, logic, and a little storytelling. If you're the kind of person who wants to know: → Whether to draw from your RRSP, TFSA, CPP, etc. first? → How much they can spend without the risk of running out → Or what to do (or not do) when the markets move …that’s exactly what I help with. FAMILY 2024’s family theme was kindness, with a challenge to complete 100 random acts of kindness. My kids are way more creative at this than I am. 2025’s theme is bravery, and they each have a list of 20 brave feats to accomplish this year. PHYSICAL HEALTH Still running, still dessert-free. Not more ultra-marathons though, and spending more time backpacking in the mountains. SPIRITUAL HEALTH Prayer and journaling continue to ground me. In 2025, I’m writing more about relationships, identity, and what it means to really show up for the people who matter. WHAT ELSE I've picked up a used foil board and wing and hoping to make wing-foiling on the lake a new hobby this summer.
