About Riley Benson

As a recent graduate from Western Washington University with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and an Interdisciplinary Concentration in Law and Public Policy, I am passionate about continuing to further my education outside of the classroom. I currently work as a legal assistant at Aaron M. Lukoff's criminal defense law firm. My duties include filing court documents, answering phone/managing the Attorney's calendar, administrative duties, and data input. I have the responsibility of training the new hire in both reception & legal assistant roles. My education at Western Washington University and previous employment as a Student Admissions Representative helped me to foster crucial skills such as interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and critical research and writing. I have volunteered for nonprofit organizations such as the Sunrise Movement and have phone banked for local representatives. I'm interested in using the law to advocate for others and work on public policies affecting voters of all backgrounds. I completed an internship at the Whatcom County Public Defender's office in the fall and winter of 2024 and worked as a field organizer for the Whatcom Democrats.
