About Riley Cooper

Poverty has always been a motivating factor for bettering myself and I have learned a great deal from the hardships that I have faced throughout my life, such as the importance of strong mentorship. I believe that these lessons have equipped me, particularly as a neurodivergent woman, with a resiliency, kindness, and inclusive perspective that can meaningfully contribute to any research and development program. My training in synthetic organic chemistry has involved the development of synthetic methods, the synthesis of medicinally-relevant compounds, the synthesis of lube oil additives, and performance bench testing of lube oil blends. I am currently a Research Associate Chemist at Chevron Oronite. Additionally, I have now over 7+ years of teaching experience via teaching assistantships and both private and volunteer tutelages. I currently employ my didactic skills as a Chemistry Specialist for McGraw-Hill. I am also a former NSF GRFP fellow and advocate for inclusive hiring and managing practices.
