About Riley Corcoran

I'm a recent graduate with an M.S. in Biology at the University of Denver. My thesis under Dr. Jon Velotta involved using whole genome sequencing to look at the genomic repeatability of adaptation across parallel populations of river herring undergoing recent freshwater adaptation caused by damming. I enjoy asking physiology or population history questions and using genetic tools to answer them, through a combination of wet lab work and computer analysis, including pipeline work, coding, and data analysis. My current role builds on those skills with new analyses, datasets, and systems. I've also learned a lot through working as a teaching assistant, where I could help others better learn and understand topics I enjoy, including first-year classes introducing students to physiological systems or upper-level electives deeply exploring human anatomy and physiology.
