This year I am celebrating 6 years with the First Nations Health Authority, I recently transitioned to the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer as Director, Allied Health Professional Practice. I have previous experience as Regional Manager Mental Health and Wellness - Vancouver Coastal Region. My employment experience includes strategic planning and applying a partnered approach to wellness in the field of substance use, mental health, and traditional wellness with fourteen First Nations communities. Priorities within my portfolio require a collaborative multi-level partnered approach, for example I have experience working with Vancouver Coastal Health, First Nations Health Counsel, Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions, applying guidance towards a culturally meaningful response to the toxic drug supply crisis. I have also provided leadership to several developing portfolios including: cultural safety and humility, patient quality care, covid-19 pandemic response, community driven crisis response, and developing a supportive pathway to increase reporting compliance to inform regional investments. I have provided guidance and co-developed a culturally relevant decision making pathway for site selection of a regional Health & Wellness Centre, which focused on transparency, reciprocal accountability and equity. I hold a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelors of Social Work from the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology. I am an Indigenous woman from a Saik'uz First Nation; my practice as a Social Worker is grounded in Indigenous thought, theory, and relational worldview. My entire career has been dedicated to the improvement of social determinants of health through micro and macro practice. I see my personal health related to the health of my people, communities, and Nations.
