About Riley Smith

I work in an exciting field that uses targeted, biologically active, radioactive compounds to help diagnose and treat disease. Since I was very young, my interests involved cellular biology, and biochemistry. My skills and passions would take me towards helping patients in clinical and non- clinical nuclear medicine, and peers in laboratory safety. I have enjoyed over a decade of education and experience relating to research, patient care, human physiology, chemistry, and radiation physics. I am excited to make a difference in nuclear diagnostics and therapy: theranostics. I prioritize effective teamwork, leadership, communication, efficiency, relibility, and accountability within the work environment. The last few years have taken me all over BC and back. I began my registered NM work in the busy Prince George NM/CT and CT departments. I then lead the rehabilitation of a vacant NM (Tx, Dx), CT (C+, C-) hybrid department (GE 870) in North-Eastern BC. I enjoyed all oportunities to pass NM knowledge to peers, high school students, imaging staff, surgical teams, and protocol doctors, researchers, among others. In my current role, I played a large role in guiding, strengthening, and educating laboratory staff in a large safety program not limited to chemical conjugates, radiochemical labeling, cell binding, DG transport, and murine biodistribution.
