Just like my favorite quote by Haim G. Ginott - “I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming,” I play with this power responsibly to bring the best experience in class. I specialize in andragogy. I deliver lessons based on a set curriculum and add supplements to enhance lessons and meet students' needs. I encourage the use of technology by having students use online platforms to allow for more learning opportunities and to make students more comfortable with technology. I teach EAP and ESL, basic to advanced listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar. Till now, I have worked with students from about 50 countries, and also taught abroad in Thailand for a few weeks during my International School Experience Program. In class, I use course textbooks, supplementary materials, role playing, educational games, and real life materials (radio broadcasts, movies, music, videos etc.) to encourage students to use English in their everyday life. To promote students' interest and keep classes engaging, I use all four skills to build upon lessons and encourage a well-rounded education. In the classroom, I share parts of my life and encourage students to share their life stories to create a level of comfort and connection to the lesson. Using a disciplined approach mixed with humor, I create a positive and supportive learning environment for all the students. My goal is to elicit the students knowledge of academic English writing and help them to use that knowledge accurately in various methods and styles of writing- Assist, mostly EAP, students with mechanical elements of English writing- Reinforce the concepts of clarity and cohesion in writing development- Assist EAP students with oral fluency- Create communicative lesson plans and supporting material - Preform formative assessment of learners, validating strengths and clarifying difficulties - Assist students with paragraph and essay writing techniques
