About Rishabh Thakur

I am a problem solver with a diverse background that spans Actuarial Science, environmental conservation, and sustainable development. After earning a degree in Mathematics, I built a career with top insurers like AVIVA and AXA, before transitioning to social impact work. My journey in the development space began in Pondicherry as I joined an ocean conservation project called “Dive Against Debris” while working toward my Rescue Scuba Diver certification. The project, which involved organizing beach clean-ups, awareness sessions, and deep dives to remove ocean trash, sparked my passion for social impact and the environment. As a fellow with the Transforming India Initiative, I explored social entrepreneurship while working with Bintix, a data-driven waste management startup. I led initiatives that encouraged over households to adopt waste segregation practices at the source, navigating challenges like community resistance, hindrance by the waste mafia, and other systemic barriers. These experiences taught me the importance of collaboration, grassroots action, and creating solutions tailored to local contexts. Today, I am focused on building an inclusive, sustainable future by empowering marginalized communities, such as the transgender population, to lead eco-friendly projects. Combining my expertise in data analysis, project management, and community engagement, I aim to create scalable impact at the intersection of people and the planet. I am always eager to connect with like-minded professionals to exchange ideas and collaborate on meaningful solutions. Let’s create a sustainable and inclusive world together!
