About Rishanth Pillay

Rishanth is a chartered accountant (CA(SA), PGDA) with more than 13 years in the South African financial services industry, focusing predominantly on investment banking in the listed corporate debt market, capital structuring and debt advisory solutions. In 2022 he moved into Sponsor Leveraged Finance within Investment Banking to focus on acquisition financing, capital structuring and debt solutions for the South African private equity market (focusing on portfolio asset financing) as well as leveraged buyouts and financing solutions throughout the capital stack. He completed his accountancy and auditing articles in 2013 in the Financial Services, Insurance and Investment Management division at PwC in Johannesburg, South Africa which focused on short and long-term insurers, pension funds and investment management firms. Thereafter, he completed a 4-month secondment in 2014 to Kansas City, Missouri on the final Pimco (State Street) audit. Following such, he moved to Investec Bank Limited (Johannesburg) to work as a corporate Credit Analyst that was sector-agnostic and focused on credit analysis for the extension of short-term products including interest rate hedging, FX hedging, working capital facilities and general banking facilities (Corporate Institutional Banking) for both listed and unlisted clients. In 2016, Rishanth moved into Investment Banking as a Corporate Solutions Transactor that focused on the listed client-set of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. This focused on deal origination, capital structuring and debt advisory, being sector agnostic and focusing predominantly in the industrial, healthcare, mining and telecom sectors. Following 5 years in the role, he has moved into being a Sponsor Leverage Finance Transactor in the Investment Banking division. This focuses on acquisition financing, debt advisory and capital structuring for private equity sponsors and their portfolio assets which includes leveraged buyouts and all financing solutions required throughout the capital stack. Key skills include: Financial Analysis, financial modelling, performance management, budgeting, risk analysis and strategic analysis across a broad range of industries.
