About Rita Carson Guest

Rita has been a recognized leader in interior design for over 30 years. She has designed award-winning projects of many types. Her work and articles on design are frequently published. Rita is committed to design excellence and actively involved in the advancement of the profession of interior design. She works closely with Carson Guest's team of designers in developing beautiful, functional spaces that improve people's lives and contribute to the success of their businesses. She has vast experience with efficient spatial design, construction detailing, furniture and finishes, lighting, artwork selection and project management, along with a keen sense of design and attention to detail. Rita has served as National President of ASID and the Georgia Chapter of ASID as well as President of the Georgia Alliance of Interior Design Professionals, successfully leading the effort for interior designers to be recognized as professionals through registration by Georgia law. Rita has been a finalist for the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce for Small Business Person of the Year and ASID's Designer of Distinction in Georgia. In 2006, Rita was recognized as the Southeast Contract designer of the year by the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. She served on the Board of Directors of the Museum of Design Atlanta, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Museum, for over ten years. A graduate of Georgia State University, Rita became Georgia's first registered interior designer and was the first interior designer appointed to serve on the Georgia Board of Architects, serving for 10 years. Registered/licensed in Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Washington DC, Rita also serves on the Technical Committee for Means of Egress for the National Fire Protection Association and assisted in the development of the revised NFPA 101 and NFPA codes issued in 2003, 2006 2009 and 2012.
