About Rita Nascimento

As a student at Long Island University straight out of high school, my goal was to become a Pediatric Nurse because I love kids. An opportunity to nurture and play with kids all day and then give them back to their parents was the ideal career choice. A semester in, Navy recruiters were promoting/recruiting on campus and flash forward, I’m a proud Navy Veteran. Today, I am an experienced Business Operations Leader that has worked in the hospitality field, healthcare industry, and more recently Academia. As an Associate Director with Facilities Administration at New York University for the School of Professional Studies (SPS), I manage and troubleshoot day-to-day operations of SPS owned and leased properties which includes analysis of classroom and administrative space utilization. In addition, I am responsible for project management and general oversight of select projects for the unit. In 2021 as students, faculty, and staff returned to campus post pandemic, I worked with the Office of the President to facilitate covid test kits/logistics with the SPS community, in 2022 I oversaw the lease closeout of our off-campus facility at the iconic Woolworth building and I obtained my certificate in Project Management Fundamental Tools and Techniques with SPS, in 2023 SPS earned a green work place certification with our department earning a platinum level certification. Currently, I am looking for an opportunity to utilize my project management skills and explore more projects aimed at helping academic groups grow and modernize their spaces; with a team that shares my enthusiasm and determination to give students state of the art facilities, encourages professional growth, and endorses diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a seasoned Operations Leader and Project Manager, I deliver strengths in motivation, information sharing, conflict management, negotiation, vendor support, decision making, time management, and excellent customer service.
