Dr. Ritesh Singh is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Kalyani. He has completed his MD in Community Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He obtained his MBBS degree from Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata in first attempts. He has more than a decade of post MD teaching and research experience. He has worked as a Senior Resident at the School of Public Health, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh; Community Health Department of St. Stephen’s Hospital and Department of Community Medicine of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. During his tenure at St. Stephen’s Hospital, the hospital was conferred with a special appreciation award by Her Excellency, the President of India for the survey coordinated by him. He was the Faculty in charge of the Telemedicine Unit, co-ordinator of the Medical Education Unit and a member of the Ethics Committee of College of Medicine and JNM Hospital, WBUHS, Kalyani where he served as Assistant Professor and later as Associate Professor for more than 8 years. His research aptitude is reflected in the number of publications he has authored. He has published more than 50 papers, many of which are in high impact international journals including the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, National Medical Journal of India, Indian Journal of Medical Research etc. He has written chapters in 5 books. He has written modules for courses run by IGNOU. He is the guest faculty of the Institute of Public Health, Kalyani. He was part of a team for writing documents for the World Health Organization (WHO). He is an MBBS examiner. He has successfully guided four Short Term Student (STS) projects funded by ICMR. He was the Principal Investigator of a Multi-centric study titled ‘Prospective dengue seroprevalence study in 5 to 10 year-old children’. The study was conducted simultaneously at 8 centres in India. He has delivered invited talks in conferences. He is highly skilled in conducting various types of clinical and health research. His major areas of interest are epidemiology of Non Communicable Diseases, Tuberculosis and immunization. He is a learner first and constantly looks for opportunity to enhance his skill. He is a passionate researcher and loves to teach research methodology and Biostatistics to anyone who wishes to learn.
