About Riyaz Ravat

I have over 20 years experience working in the public sector in a variety of roles. Currently I work as a Police Constable in West Midlands Police. I have held this role for over 14 years and and have gained a number of skills over this time. Having spent a number of years in neighbourhood and response front line policing I have extensive experience in helping and supporting vulnerable members of our society. This role has also enabled me to proactively safeguard the public by bringing offenders to justice. I have more recent experience working as a police officer in a multi agency team supporting people in mental health crisis. This was a rewarding role which gained national and international admiration. This was a challenging role but really enhanced my skills in personal safety, crisis management and public service. More recently I have worked in an investigation role safeguarding the most vulnerable of crime. This was an intelligence led role which involved the assessment of intelligence, which was then used to arrest and prosecute offenders. Prior to working as a Police Officer I spent 3 years working in the Department of Work and Pensions investigating fraudulent pension claims. I believe this role helped and supported me in my later career path as I gained valuable skills in looking at the finer details. Many of these investigations included a huge amount of detail which had to be prioritised and analysed. Outside of the workplace I enjoy reading and indoor climbing. I have started to learn Arabic as this may be a valuable skill for future plans.
