About Riyaz Sheikh

I’m a Professional Engineer and senior project manager with 18 years delivering large, multi‑contract linear transportation infrastructure programs across Ontario. I lead complex, multidisciplinary teams to hit key components to successful project and program delivery: schedule, budget, and scope. My experience spans CMGC, DBF, AFP and traditional delivery. Current highlights include Bradford Bypass (Preliminary Design & West CMGC Detail Design), Highway 410 program works (Detail design of sub‑collectors, interchanges, ramp realignments, bridge rehabilitations), QEW Credit River (DBF), Highway 403/6 Interchange PD & Group ‘B’ EA, Glendale Diverging Diamond Interchange Preliminary Design, and Hamilton LRT / Main Street interchange reconfiguration projects to name a few key projects. My previous tenure included seven years at MTO contributing to project and program delivery ans committees in various functional and Head Office contingents. I successfully contributed to MTO’s Planning and Preliminary Design Process Guidelines, which continue to drive innovation across landmark projects today. I focus on practical delivery: realistic and practical design execution, decisive technical, commercial, and programmatic decisions, contract packaging that reduces downstream change, and clear communications with owners, contractors, agencies, and communities. I’m comfortable briefing executives, facilitating PICs and Indigenous engagement, and running fast, issues driven meetings. Specialties: PD/DD/CMGC/DB/DBR/AFP delivery; End-to-end linear transportation design delivery: freeways, highways, roadways, active transportation, Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail Transit, etc. from concept and PD/Class EA through detail design and construction/CA. Constructability & staging; design; risk management; value engineering; procurement & contract packaging; utility coordination; environmental approvals; QA/QC; executive and public communications. Currently executing senior roles leading project delivery on complex linear transportation programs, mandates, and alternative delivery.
