About Roan Fraser

As a Lecturer in Practical Organic Chemistry at the University of Groningen, I am committed to enhancing chemical education through innovative teaching methods and curriculum development. My focus lies in creating engaging laboratory experiences that not only convey fundamental concepts but also inspire critical thinking and a passion for chemistry among students. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, which enriches my pedagogical approach and informs my efforts to design inclusive and effective learning environments. My recent work includes developing a safer, dinitrophenylhydrazine-free method for identifying aldehydes and ketones in undergraduate labs, aiming to improve both safety and educational outcomes. I am passionate about bridging the gap between traditional chemical practices and modern educational strategies, striving to prepare students for the evolving demands of the scientific community.
