About Rob Arkell

Capitalizing on a successful 15-year career in commercial property management, I transitioned into the sustainability field where I now work to create more sustainable communities and organizations. My current role as Sustainability Specialist & Operations Manager for Cambium Inc. sees me focused on planning and implementing strategies for various aspects of sustainability - for clients and for our own organization. Experience highlights to date include- comparing waste management policies/program/practices of multiple municipalities and finding opportunities to improve efficiency & diversion through collaboration - developing municipal energy management plans and First Nation community energy plans - developing municipal, institutional and First Nation waste management strategies - completing commercial/industrial waste audits and uncovering opportunities for waste reduction & diversion - creating "Transitioning to the Circular Economy"- a post-graduate college course - engaging community members across numerous while developing Peterborough's first regional sustainability plan - coordinating Fleming College's Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) certification - managing Lansdowne Place Shopping Centre through a LEED-certified expansion and renovation. My continually developing expertise in sustainability is aided by my LEED-AP designation, and the recent completion of my Masters of Sustainability degree at Trent University.
