Background
About Rob Beavan
You made it this far, so thank you! “Only a few find the way, some don’t recognize it when they do – some… don’t ever want to.” - Cheshire Cat I'm a Husband (of one), Father (of three) and Primary Ablution Technician and Feed Supplier (of two canines). I'm edging towards that half-century and have attracted the monicker "Boomer" from the kids, but am yet to find out why I link with nuclear submarines. Describing myself as a pessimistic optimist, I endeavour to seek out the humorous aspects of any given situation and have been known, on occasion, to make people chuckle - sometimes intentionally. I have many more interests than free time allows ranging from reading, electronics, board games, snoozing, movies, cryptography, writing, puzzles and music. I'm the Senior Process Engineer at Mondelez International in Marlbrook, near Leominster, Herefordshire, where my role is to ensure that all aspects of the manufacturing plant are optimised and controlled in order to produce a consistently great Cadbury's Chocolate product for the consumer in a safe and efficient manner. I have over 20 years experience in engineering where I have learnt what partial electrocution feels like and how not to wire transformers, as well as professional engineering practices and maintenance strategies (no electrocution involved). I have been lead engineer on high level process maintenance,(PLCs and SCADA systems) involved in new plant installation, scoping and site acceptance of equipment, ran a Utilities and Production Maintenance dept. and have also headed up an Engineering Team that ensured the safe and efficient operation of pharmaceutical packaging machinery. Outside of Engineering, I am fortunate to have just shy of 10 years experience working in a unique National Security environment. Being technically minded I proved particularly adept at working with technical communities and analyst communities to achieve desired aims - kind of like a 6 foot Babelfish that allowed communication to take place between people whose minds were too active and busy to allow room for ordinary interaction and a customer set like Oliver Twist (always asking for more). I was lucky enough to travel the World in this job and have had some amazing experiences and met some incredibly interesting and talented people along the way. None of the things I've stated above are who I am, though they have helped define and shape me. I'm neurodiverse and love to learn and firmly believe that the me today is not the same me as yesterday because of this. Let's connect and learn from each other!
