About Rob Dyson

WHAT I DO I am a senior and seasoned communications professional - now consultant - with 20+ years experience in PR. That includes everything from strategic media relations and message development, to risk and reputational management, copywriting, ghostwriting, and internal comms. I have delivered media - and preparing for media interview - training to large senior boards and national councils - and I've now added podcast production to my offerings (I come with my own broadcast quality mic and editing suite). I'm also very experienced in appearing on air and in front of a TV camera too. I'm a member of, and Accredited PR Practitioner with, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), and a founder member of CharityComms. CHARITY SECTOR I'm passionately driven by 25 years of service in the UK charity sector. In 2007, I proudly became a founder member, board director - then latterly a trustee - of CharityComms, the professional members body for charity communicators. Also in 2007, I created the Third Sector PR & Communications Network on Facebook. The network is used daily by over 10K non-profit professionals. I handed the group over to fantastic new management admins many years ago, when I quit Facebook. Back in the day, I had a regular column in The Guardian's (then) voluntary sector pages, and AskCharity magazine. I've delivered comms training sessions for non-profits, headlined at BeGoodBeSocial and spoken at CharityComms events - and many a 'Tweetup'(remember them?). Oh, and I once got to interview a Spice Girl (Mel B) face to face for a podcast series I produced. As of July 2024, I'm a proud trustee of local micro-charity, The Squad - which runs social clubs for autistic and learning disabled people in south London. MUSIC JOURNALISM I form part of 'Future Sounds', a collective of producers, artists, label owners, and writers rooted in the micro music genre of vaporwave. I craft promo copy and liner notes for physical label releases, website articles, and appear on the regular podcast, Future Sounds FM. Prior to my involvement in Future Sounds, I co-hosted a DAB and internet radio show for 3 years - Forever Synth - showcasing the music of synthwave. We interviewed over 100 artists and producers across the world in that time, and took Forever Synth from niche to the no.2 global powerhouse in its genre.
