About Rob Ellis

My life has been dedicated to advocacy, program development, community outreach, and policy and system change for the benefit of many children and families across the state of Maine. I have built many long-term relationships across a variety of fields including mental health, public health, education, early childhood, and the arts. My personal and professional mission has always centered on creating opportunities for all through engagement with multiple community partners. I excel at networking, building partnerships, and inspiring and motivating others to get involved with mission based organizations. As the director of several nonprofits and programs, I have often been the primary spokesman and representative for articulating and marketing the mission of an agency to the broader community, to individual donors, the press, the legislature, and to foundations. I am a strong and passionate communicator of mission and I understand and have witnessed the power of advocacy throughout my career in my own attempts to impact positive social change across a broad array of issues. I have organized and facilitated many community initiatives, often as a volunteer, in such areas as service learning, positive youth development, mental health services, homeless youth outreach, after school programming, and early childhood education. By my nature I am a tireless community organizer who loves to engage people in issues and services that are meaningful to the well being and health of underserved populations throughout our state. As a musician I have come to appreciate the profound impact that music has had on my life and my current focus is centered on bringing more opportunities for quality instruction to children and youth with limited access. The Maine Music Box represents the start of putting this vision into action.
