About Rob Geurts

The start of my education has been in the retail sector on a mbo niveau 4 education level. During this education program there was a great focus on entrepreneurship thus we had to learn the basics of business economics. Working with numbers really suited me, so after finishing my study program I wanted to learn more about the subject. I chose to follow a new study course at the university of Fontys Venlo. The reason for Venlo is that it offered international business economics oppose to the regular variant. This meant enabling myself to make use and train both my interest in working with numbers but also my English writing and reading skills. My first work experience in the field of business economics is doing a internship at the company Munckhof Fruit Tech Innovators. My main assignment was to inform the new owners of the company about the different types of cost price calculations and advice them the best fitting method for their company. Besides my report on cost price calculations I've spent most of my time on making models and dashboards in Excel. Examples include a dashboard about the historical sales of the company giving insight to all important details. But also a complex overview of the required monthly purchases for production based on a sales forecast. I've learned that I really enjoy data analysis, the bigger the better. The process of finding the faults or mistakes in data, and learning what the numbers mean is fulfilling for me. Completing this process and giving a presentation on the final results seems to be a process that suits me well.
