About Rob Govers
My scientific interests are the geodynamics of plate boundaries, lithosphere scale deformation processes and the expressions of these processes in observations; basin evolution, tectonics, stress changes, earthquake cycle, tsunami's, volcanic eruptions. Geographically, I am particularly interested in the geodynamic evolution of the Tethyan and Caribbean regions, and North America. My goals are to perform research, to educate the next generation of scholars, and to promote appreciation for the important role of the solid earth for society (resources, energy, hazards, development of the subsurface). Specialties: My expertise is in research and teaching in tectonophysics, geodynamics, in developing and using numerical modeling tools, in natural hazards and scientific writing.
