About Rob Laible

Rob Laible serves as Head of Americas at historical data provider, BMLL, bringing an track record of leadership and innovation in global financial markets to the firm. Prior to joining BMLL, Rob was the Global Head of Equities at Liquidnet, where he oversaw the firm’s institutional equities business - a premier electronic trading network with over 900 member firms collectively managing more than $17 trillion in equity assets. Rob’s career at Liquidnet began in 2014, when he was appointed Global Head of Execution & Quantitative Services (EQS). In this role, he spearheaded the development of Liquidnet’s award-winning algorithmic suite, tailored specifically for institutional clients. His strategic leadership in crafting advanced analytics and cutting-edge trading algorithms positioned Liquidnet as a leader in data-driven investing and trading automation. In 2019, Rob became Chief Operating Officer at Liquidnet, overseeing global functions including technology, operations, legal, compliance, and marketing. He played a pivotal role in steering the company’s corporate strategy and operational efficiency, culminating in Liquidnet’s successful $700 million sale to TP ICAP in April 2021, where he managed its integration. Rob’s career began at Jefferies in the Options & Futures group, where he played a foundational role in developing POSIT, one of the industry’s first off-exchange trading systems for institutional clients. As one of the earliest employees in this pioneering initiative, he helped grow ITG into a significant subsidiary, which later went public. ITG would eventually be bought by Virtu in 2019 for $1bn. With over three decades of experience in electronic trading, program trading, prime brokerage, listed derivatives, structured products, and quantitative analytics, Rob has held senior leadership positions at Lehman Brothers, Nomura, and Macquarie, where he managed global and regional sales teams. His professional journey includes eight years in Hong Kong before returning to New York to lead Liquidnet’s transformation.
