About Rob McCallum

My career has always been about making complex things happen in remote places, and managing the inherent challenges. Working on remote islands, in distant tropical rain forests, out on the broad expanse of the ocean or deep in the polar regions has provided a hard-won backdrop to my central skill set. Two management degrees (M.Sc) and 30 years of broad experience in public service, international development and commercial business provide a very solid foundation to work from. I'm a Founding Partner and operator of EYOS Expeditions; the world’s foremost provider of bespoke expeditions to some of the most remote places on Earth. In addition to having planned, managed and led over 1500 expeditions, we offer a super-yacht chartering and brokerage service and consult on the design and building of private expedition yachts including the SeaXplorer range produced by Damen Yachting. Board Member/Trustee for Nekton Mission/Ocean Census, Co-founder at Yachts for Science, Advisory Board member for DEEP, Ambassador for New Zealand Nature, previously a member of the IAATO Executive Committee (max term). I served as the primary mission planner and Expedition Leader for the world's only Hadal Exploration System (2018 - 2022). Media Consultant; providing expert opinion and background to print, radio and TV media on deep water and remote location projects and operations.
