In a market characterised by a world unable to moderate the competing demands of living well and sustainably, and of providing for individual expression while encouraging collectivism and community, MGS which I co-founded, can rightfully claim to be the practice that embraces this tension. We offer an expanded idea of architecture, urban design and design curation –drawing on our strengths in advocacy, research, policy development, business acumen, artistry and community engagement. Our work is driven by our insight into the community we serve, and is allied to a deep sense of positive economic, social, and environmental impact. What drives us is facilitated by an educated curiosity and a desire to do work that contributes to the prosperity of our clients, our communities and the future resilience of our cities and planet. We strive to do work that matters, and do it well. Since commencing our practice 39 years ago, MGS has undertaken projects that reflect this interest in research-led place-making invested with design ambition. We seek to both realise project potential & solve problems, often by facilitating new partnerships, innovation & shared understanding that in turn enable important interventions and major urban transformations to be realised. In addition to conventional, architecture, urban design and interior and retail architecture specialist skills we are frequently required to act in place-management, urban visioning and change advocacy, research partnership & peer review roles. projects. I have been privileged to have board leadership roles with Professional Bodies, Government and University Advisory Committees, National Not-For-Profit Affordable housing and Educational Organisations and our nation's largest Community Foundation, and am proud of the impact each of these organisations continues to make. Specialties: Urban Design, Placemaking, Strategy, Affordable Housing, and Masterplanning with a particular focus on urban renewal, sustainable,inclusive communities and Education and workplace campus planning, development faciltiation, project advocacy and Design Management.
