I possess an extensive background in system administration and computer-related equipment, with nearly 25 years of experience in hardware, software, and network support. My proficiency in troubleshooting a wide range of issues quickly and efficiently sets me apart. Additionally, I am adept at assisting clients and tailoring my approach to meet their specific needs. Originally from Manitoba, I lived in Prince George, BC, from June 2008 to September 2016, and in Kelowna, BC, from September 2016 to April 2024. Currently, I reside in Victoria, BC, working for Archipelago Marine Research. My career, which began in 2002, has equipped me with substantial expertise in system administration and customer service. I have developed a deep reservoir of self-taught technical knowledge, complemented by over 22 years of hands-on experience. In addition to my extensive background, I have a robust skill set in cloud management, particularly with Microsoft Azure. I am proficient in deploying and managing virtual machines, storage solutions, and cloud services, ensuring optimal performance and security. My expertise extends to Linux system administration, where I have managed servers, automated tasks using scripting languages, and ensured system reliability and security. I am also experienced in managing XenServer environments, overseeing the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of virtualized infrastructures. My project management skills have enabled me to successfully lead and coordinate various IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. My ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects has been integral to my professional success. I also have some experience in web design as a personal hobby of mine. Working with computers transcends a mere job or hobby for me; it is a passion. I take pride in my ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges. My clients, whether in person or remotely, have benefited from my dedication and have fostered strong professional relationships with me. Continuous learning is a core value of mine. I believe that with the right approach, almost any problem, short of hardware failure, can be resolved efficiently. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son. My hobbies include video games, photography, hiking, backpacking, fishing, exploring, riding my e-scooter, construction, blogging, Dungeons and Dragons, and socializing with friends.
