About Rob Middag
So far my career has mainly been in academia. I got a M.Sc. in marine biology and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences (Chemical Oceanography). After these degrees I worked at the University of California Santa Cruz as a postdoctoral researcher before accepting a lecturer position (assistant Professor) at the University of Otago in New Zealand. January 2017 I returned to the Netherlands to accept a position at NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research and in 2021 I was appointed as honorary professor at the Energy and Sustainability Research Institute Groningen. Besides fundamental research,(marine/estuarine) environmental problems, sustainability, ocean literacy and policy have my interest as well and I would welcome collaborations outside traditional academia.
