Background
About Rob Price
I am a botanist and vegetation ecologist with 21 years experience. I specialise in the vegetation of the SEQ IBRA bioregion and within that I have a specialist knowledge particularly in rainforest and vine thickets, wet eucalypt forest and coastal habitats. However, I have also worked in the field from Cape York Peninsula to the Mid North Coast of NSW, and from the southern New England Tablelands through to the Brigalow Belt and Central Queensland. I have formal botanical training from the University of Queensland and from working for 5 years as a casual plant identification technician at the Queensland Herbarium and being mentored by experts there. I also have a work history that includes delivering ecology, botany and zoology based education for a range of age groups from primary school to university programs and producing nature guides, plant ID guides and environmental infographics. See my publications list for further information. I am experienced in forest rehabilitation planning and implementation including managing a large scale rainforest rehabilitation project and its production nursery. Whilst I am primarily a botanist I have good fauna ID skills, especially with birds, as I grew up around ornithologists. I have experience assisting fauna ecologists on surveys. I have experience working in commercial consultancy and for regulators. I have authored conservation advices and listing assessments for ecological communities under the EPBC Act (Cwlth), and for species under the Nature Conservation Act (Qld). I also run professional development workshops for organisations in field botany and desktop plant identification skills, most often rainforest and riparian botany. Feel free to get in touch for a chat, I'm happy to connect and see how I might be able to help your organisation achieve its goals.
