About Rob Snyder

After 30 plus years of experiene, I'm now doing custom design and patent development work for individuals and companies. As a Designer and an Engineer, I've helped developed various types of products, including static and retractable/controllable aircraft lighting, control and motion systems for robotic work cells, and HVAC units for locomotives, among other things. From the engineering and design side, I've managed and coordinated programs ranging from the refurbishment of hydraulic turbines to the design and development of both big and small aircraft lighting projects. I've implemented Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing practices within a major company and then taught the use of GD & T through subsequent classes. At the time I also, maintained Design Standards and Drafting Standards, and held checking sign-off responsibilities for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems drawings. I believe planning and execution are key in the success of a project. I make the effort to build up and encourage those involved in the project, knowing their knowledge and involvement are vital to it's success. I believe that being a facilitator and a mentor to co-workers or customers involved in a project is crucial - give them the tools and information they need and let them take ownership, getting involved in a non-intrusive manner to provided guidance only as needed. By taking ownership most employees are inspired to produce a product they're personally proud of. These attributes were also crucial in helping build Snyder's Heating and Cooling from the ground up. It is now the preeminent HVAC company in it's home county and surrounding area. I consider my strengths to be analytical and methodical thinking, the management of projects, the ability to creatively visualize and design new products, providing direction in a manner that promotes teamwork and makes all involved feel valued, and the ability to examine a problem and provide a superior and reliable solution.
