About Rob Wilkes

With over 15 years of experience in GIS and municipal operations, I’ve built a career around using data and spatial analysis to support planning, infrastructure, and community-focused projects. At the City of Oshawa, I specialize in developing and managing GIS systems, maps, and visual data products that help inform policy decisions and improve organizational efficiency. Beyond GIS, I’ve taken on leadership roles that have strengthened my project management and coordination skills. As Commissioner of the City’s United Way Charity Golf Tournament, I’ve planned and executed two successful events, directly raising over for the United Way Durham Region. I’m passionate about seeing projects through from concept to completion, whether it’s coordinating a citywide database initiative, supporting growth area studies like the Columbus Part II Plan, or leading community fundraising efforts. I’m currently completing my Project Management Studies Certificate through Durham College and pursuing my PMP certification, along with a Bachelor of Professional Arts in Governance, Law, and Management through Athabasca University. My goal is to continue growing toward senior management, where I can combine my technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership experience to help drive effective municipal operations and community outcomes.
