Background
About Rob Yen
Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated with stories relating to adventure and discovery; perhaps in some ways I identified with them as it correlated with my own journey of immigrating to the United States and learning a new culture. In those stories, the protagonists come across something new and challenging in which they have a choice to confront or ignore, and for the sake of the story, they confront it and end up playing huge roles in the (usually) positive outcome of the situations. They also learn valuable lessons along the way to become better people. Story creators have used this formula to develop countless hits in entertainment as it touches on the idealistic human journey. This was the reason why I chose to study marketing and communications when I was in college; to learn how to apply this in branding. Although it may seem not applicable to the business world, I ask myself the following whenever I seek a new job opportunity: can I help create appealing, engaging, and memorable messaging and experiences for the brand and/or organization in which the customer journey becomes an adventure for those it touches? In short, I believe in a great story and how it can be told in profound ways. Specialty: Developing strategies that translate into measurable results. Executing practical solutions to help resolve impractical issues. Follow-through and tenacity. Planning and producing memorable events; For the past two years, I produced the Hollywood Entertainment Technology Festival (HETFest), an international industry conference focusing on the US-China landscape. Organizational areas: Marketing/PR/Communications strategy planning, development, and execution Media relations - local and national level Copywriting - press releases, internal/external communications Business Development and relationship building Budget planning and management Social Media - strategy development and management Events - planning, promotion, production
