IT runs in the family. Both my parents worked in IT for financial institutions, and it was probably a foregone conclusion that I was going to end up in IT; not just because of my parents, but probably more because I started building my own computers and making websites on the, then nascent, spent a long time as IT Director for a credit union, learning more than I ever wanted to about the day-to-day operations: I had to. I was the only IT staff for long stretches of time and it fell to me to know how every system worked so that I could effectively fix them or explain them when required. I handed over the reins to a young protege (I did hire him and train him, so get to call him that - he's still there doing that job) and moved on for greener pastures with less stress and responsibility.The last decade plus has been. well, we've all lived through it. For me it saw a lot of changes. I've grown increasingly specialized in systems for financial institutions (It behooves me to name some of them, as a single line in my resume got me my last position: Finastra's LaserPro, Jack Henry's Synergy, Silverlake Core and XPerience framework, Fiserv's Prologue), but I am still an IT generalist at heart. I love working with computer and computer systems. I love learning new things and helping people solve their problems.
