About Robbin Morgan

I am an Educator with Milwaukee Public Schools. I have taught every grade from first through eighth. After nearly 27 years as a traditional classroom teacher, I decided to do something different this year. I am currently a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Teacher for 260 5th - 8th Grade students. I love the flexibility of my schedule. I love the opportunity to expose young minds to the possibilities of employment and increased income in careers that will be more and more relevant to their future. I love exposing them to the engineer and design process, automation and robotics, and computer science with coding. I never thought that I would enjoy it as much as I am because I never had an interest in any of this, however, I am so very glad that I took this position. These students are very impressionable. They are eager to learn something new and they are doing it. Although reading is a challenge for many of our students in the inner city, I have the opportunity to work on reading and math skills as we navigate the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum, plant seeds of success and motivate them to want to excel in every area of their lives. I am also a retired United States Army Reserve Human Resources Officer. I served my country for 32.8 years. I retired in May 2022. Even after all of that time, I still found it difficult to put away my boots. I often found that the skills that I learned in the military could easily be applied to my management strategies in my classrooms. Like adults, children love to be treated with dignity, respect, and with fairness. They too want to feel valued and that their teachers care. Problem solving, discipline, time management, and communication skills that I practiced while serving in my military assignments made me a better educator. I have my Administrator License. My next career steps include becoming an Administrator for Milwaukee Public Schools. I want to work with educators across our organization. I support teachers every day, but I want an official role. I want to be a mentor who can support current and future educators. I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences and creating strategies and techniques with/for them as they navigate the current and future generations of children that will some day take their place in our communities.
