I’ve been working for startups for a while. Sometimes I love it. Sometimes it’s a huge bummer. I’ve learned to laugh my way through crazy, hilarious train wrecks and held on tight riding hockey stick growth curves. It’s bewildering and exhausting, and half the time I feel like I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. But I get to learn so much and work with so many awesome people that I simply can’t imagine doing anything else. I'm currently the head of product for Clearbox Legal, an online service that helps people prepare their U.S. citizenship applications. Previously, I was the CEO of RescueTime, a platform that helps individuals and organizations focus on getting more meaningful work done. It's changed my life and given me a perspective on myself that I never imagined. To be able to build something that matters and be able to share it with the world is really special. And doing it alongside the fantastic folks that I worked with? Amazing. This startup stuff is actually pretty great, I guess.
