About Robert Alderson

I am one of a very small number of intellectual property professionals working at a European IP firm who has a law degree from the United States and is qualified to practice before both the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. In addition, in 2018 I passed the European Patent Litigation Certificate Exam which makes me eligible to participate in litigation proceedings before the new European Unified Patent Court. Prior to moving to Europe over 12 years ago, I worked in New York as an intellectual property attorney for 14 years, including over 10 years at an AmLaw 100 law firm. My primary responsibility at Berggren is to act as a convenient contact point for U.S. and other non-European entities, including universities, research institutions, science parks, companies and law firms, particularly those seeking high-quality, reasonable-cost services in connection with their European intellectual property matters. Given my experience with both United States and European IP law, I frequently write and speak on a variety of topics. My most recent conference speaking positions have included:(1) the 2023 AUTM Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas and (2) the AUTM Central, East and West Region meetings in Kansas City, New York and Newport Beach, respectively.
