About Robert Balayan

A Full Stack Software Engineer living in Tokyo, Japan. Work in Python for backend development (Django + Django REST Framework), React.JS for frontend development, PostgreSQL for Databases, keras/TensorFlow for Machine Learning, AWS for web hosting. Graduated from University of Toronto with Honours BSc in Computer Science with Focus in Artificial Intelligence. There I did my best to take a large breadth of subjects, so I have a large variety of academic experience with different Machine Learning techniques and Computer Science in general. Went on to developing an AI for employee scheduling at Kuontech, a sister company of beepNow. Together these companies worked on beepShift, a system for businesses to keep track of part time employees and automatically build their schedules to take the load off the managers. From Kuontech I went on to work at TREE, where I worked on data mining. My main project was centered on scraping data from government tender websites and compiling all that data in a single database. I developed a framework based on Luigi and Selenium which allowed for developing new scrapers in less than 20 LOC while allowing great flexibility when dealing with really complex sites. After that I moved to (originally called Avalanche Tech), where along with graduates from Kuontech, beepNow and TREE I worked on the social network for Meiji University's Graduage Association (). I took the lead role in developing the website, from specifications to Full Stack development. While the project was on hold I worked as a lead backend engineer for a mobile application called Otokun. Based on a specification provided by the client I developed the entirety of the backend and the admin portal for advertisers. Currently looking for a new place where I can use my Full Stack and ETL experience, along with improving my skills in Data Engineering, Data Science and Machine Learning.
