Currently pursuing a portfolio career, but am open to new challenges for Manchester Geomatics or myself in a consultancy role. I am Visiting Professor in the Geographic Data Science Lab in The University of Liverpool. I have expertise in spatial data policy, social information systems, and address and postcode data. Over a decade of experience on the boards of Housing Associations and chairing affordable warmth companies.I have recently been a member of The Ministry of Justice / National Archives Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information (APPSI) and the Cabinet Office Open Data Users' Group (ODUG).I was previously a member of the cabinet Office Social Exclusion Unit's Policy Action Team 18 working on "Better Information" which led to the establishment of the ONS Neigbourhood Statistics Service. I was also on the steering group for the ONS UK Standard Geographic Base project.I have been closely involved with improving the address base for the 2011 Census and identifiying issues with the address base used in 2001.I am very interested in open data sources in particular the Open Street Map project and open software initiatives.Specialties: Data policy, social information systems, address and postcode data, geographical information systems.
