About Robert Bourgeois

High school teacher at Chapel Hill High School (CHHS) in Chapel Hill, NC. My areas of expertise include classes focused on Game Design, 3D Modeling, and the Adobe Academy applications. I believe that all students are creative, unique individuals who have the ability and desire to learn new skills and exciting material, especially when given the appropriate freedom to explore these areas based on their personal interests, learning needs, and skill level. I prefer methods of instruction involving project based learning techniques combined with differentiated exploration of hands-on skills. I previously taught at Durham School of the Arts (DSA) for 19 years where I was the Career & Technical Education (CTE) department chair for approximately ten years and was integral in bringing digital art classes to the school in 2009. While at DSA, I had the honor of leading a talented group of high school students in creating a virtual reality walk-through of an abandoned prison for a nonprofit organization in Laurenburg, NC who were converting the space into a community area and learning space. This experience led to me being invited to assist with the Department of Education's EdSim Challenge, which focused on educational uses of virtual reality.
