About Robert Burley
Robert Burley is an artist and educator based in Toronto, Canada. His recent books include,"Accidental Wilderness", AEVO UTP 2020,"An Enduring Wilderness: Toronto's Natural Parklands" ECW Press 2017 "The Disappearance of Darkness: Photography at the end of the analog era", Princeton Architectural Press 2012. Burley’s photographic work is collected and exhibited internationally and he has been the recipient of numerous awards including a Senior Mellon Fellowship. As an artist, his work explores the relationship between nature and cities, architecture and the urban landscape. He is represented by the Stephen Bulger Gallery. Burley currently holds the position of Professor at the School of Image Arts, Ryerson University and he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He is a founding faculty member of the MA Program in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management and has been actively involved in the creation of new curricula and resources at Ryerson.
