About Robert Byrd

Dr. Byrd has over thirty years experience in the offshore oil and gas industry. Since 1993 he has focused on planning and executing offshore facility decommissioning projects, including well plugging and abandonment (P&A), and on assessing the requirements and cost for onshore facility decommissioning. He is a specialist in the probabilistic assessment of cost and schedule risk. He has held positions with an international marine facilities contractor, consulting engineering firms, and is a former U.S. Coast Guard officer. His responsibilities have covered the full spectrum of positions. He is experienced in systems engineering, construction management, and marine operations under a wide range of conditions. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and is active in a number of professional societies. Dr. Byrd is a multiengine-instrument rated pilot. He is a Director of Angel Flights South Central. He is a past Chairman of the US Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association Board of Directors and served as a member of the Academy Board of Trustees.
