About Robert Caldwell

Dr. Robert M. Caldwell is currently the Managing Partner of Caldwell Business and Legal Services (CBLS), a Newport Beach-based mediation and transactional law service that 1) facilitates dispute resolution between individuals in civil cases and disputes between businesses, 2) Advises on Business formation and positioning for investment opportunities, and 3) Provides assistance with higher education accreditation and approvals. Over the course of his career, Dr. Caldwell has distinguished himself as an educator and researcher and held a number of administrative positions in Higher Education. His active interests in legal compliance and accreditation has made him a key contributor to state-wide reform efforts as well as a valuable resource to educational institutions seeking instructional effectiveness evaluations and self-assessment strategies. Dr. Caldwell holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Penn State University and has done applied research in the area of Artificial intelligence at Nichols Research Corporation where he headed a a research team developing complex computer-based software systems for the U.S. Army Strategic Defense Command. Dr. Caldwell has published four books and over 150 scholarly articles on diverse subjects in both technology and education. He has also secured over $10 million in research grants and in venture and private equity funding to fund start-up software development and publishing companies. In the past five years, Dr. Caldwell has provided administrative leadership and capital generation for a number of projects which have led to the accreditation of several for-profit colleges. He is currently seeking approval to establish Western Cambridge School of Law in Newport Beach, CA and serves as the Chief Academic Officer for Los Angeles International University, an online university offering graduate and undergraduate students world-wide.
