About Robert Carpenter

Hi there. I have a very interesting work history that has led me to be a hands on Facilities and Engineering manager for Champion Flour Mills. It started after leaving high school and taking on a unsigned apprenticeship with a office machine service company in Christchurch. That company was Turner’s Ltd who had the Canterbury agency for Olympia typewriters both manual and electric. During my time working for Turners I had the pleasure to see the evolution of modern office equipment. This included early style photo copiers and adding machines that have turned into modern scanners and calculators. I did have a shift in career and that was retraining as a production engineer for Sanford Sea Food. This job took me too sea for many years working both in New Zealand and in Argentina. After the birth of our first granddaughter I made the decision to return back to a land based work. First was a gardening positions to retrain my mind back to land based work as working on large factory fishing boats is very different way of working. I started a position with Chep pallets as factory engineer and then moved on to Champion Flour Mills leading a team of fitters on a busy food production plant.
