With a base in Edinburgh, Robert Chalmers Architect provides architectural design services to clients throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians and beyond. The practice is able to advise on appointing other professionals such as Structural Engineers and Quantity Surveyors when these are required. Practice experience includes domestic housing,(including one-off houses, extensions, alterations and loft conversions), housing developments including flats for private developers and housing associations, healthcare,(including health centres and dental surgeries), commercial and retail. Robert Chalmers has a lot of experience in sustainable design and working with churches, community groups and the voluntary sector as a result of his involvement with housing associations and charities. This has resulted in him being involved in several innovative developments such as the first community self-build in Scotland, ground breaking sustainable housing projects and the first houses built to vedic principles in Scotland. Working both locally in the Edinburgh and surrounding area and further afield, Robert personally deals with all his clients but also has a student assistant and very experienced technician associates who are able to help with drawings for larger projects and turn round small projects in a shorter period of time. The practice is not VAT registered and rates are kept very competitive. Enquiries are welcome for any project large or small.
