About Robert Chatfield

I am the Country Director for British Council Argentina and Chile. I am a well-being and mindfulness practitioner. My qualifications are: BSc(hons) Physiology and pharmacology, CELTA, DELTA and MBA with distinction from the University of Bath I am an expert in English language teaching in education systems, language acquisition and professional development for teachers. I represent the British Council on the British Embassy Country Boards in Argentina and Chile. In Argentina, we have exciting programmes in the Arts, Education and Society and a growing exams business across two large offices in Buenos Aires. In Chile, an exciting and growing exams and English teaching operation. I am fortunate to have had successful careers in two service sectors, education and healthcare. Both have given me the opportunity to focus on giving the best to the service user. In healthcare in the UK I have worked directly for the NHS and in the private sector at board level. I am also fortunate to have lived and worked in a number of countries (Argentina, Poland and Spain) and learnt another language to proficiency (Spanish). I believe in a positive supportive culture where people in my team feel great about coming to work. I believe people need to be supported, developed and invested in. I have wide-ranging management expertise: program management, business development, tendering and contract management, stakeholder management, financial planning and budget management, corporate governance, clinical governance, human resources, management information systems, and marketing. However, I started my career as a teacher, and learning - and how we learn and improve informs everything I do. Would be rock star, guitarist, mandolin and ukulele player, avid cyclist, Boca juniors and West Ham supporter. Father of 2 wonderful boys, and amateur chef.
