About Robert Colburn

In my current position as the Curatorial Technical Manager at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine I am responsible for aspects of collection management, art/object handling, exhibition design and construction and participate in the process museums engage in to plan and execute their exhibition schedules. Recently I have served on an internal Diversity and Equity Task Force to begin addressing disparities in the institution related to DEAI topics. Prior to joining the museum, as the Director of a fine art gallery in mid-coast Maine, I developed a wide range of skills related to running a small retail business, developing and implementing long- and short-term strategies for the promotion of art and artists, managing an extensive collection of artwork and interacting with the public. Additional skills I have acquired include office management and supervisory roles, data integrity and maintenance, customer service and support, client handling and development, quality control, website/social media implementation and management and both independent and team oriented work.
