About Robert Cranston

I specialise in analysing the information objectives of an organisation (in the transport domain, in particular, but not limited to that) and capturing these as a set of business rules or processes that generate end-user information in response to events. Underpinning this, I have developed a universal business rules engine software package that will enable an organisation to grow and evolve its business rules set and the network model that drives the rules. The ‘universality’ of the rules engine technology, in this respect, is the ideal of a completely domain independent rules engine that enables the organisation to evolve and adapt their system without recourse to modifying software and without being locked in to any particular vendor solution for key components of their system. The vision is to meet the challenge of AI and enable an organisation to ensure their strategic, environmental, economic and community objectives are fulfilled where the information objectives embodied in AI and AI training algorithms may not align with theirs. This is not a Luddite response to AI but rather a means to adapt to and utilise that technology.
